Sustaining Australian democracy through adult and community education

I have written a discussion paper on the role that Australian adult and community education (ACE) providers can play in sustaining Australian democracy and supporting civil society.

The ACE sector provides a great deal of value to support Australian democracy. Given the importance of education to democratic functioning, the ACE sector’s expertise in education and training of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups – particularly through foundation skills of language, literacy and numeracy – means that it has a unique role in ensuring that Australian democracy thrives.
